Portugal’s tanners hope Alcanena meeting will bring shoe manufacturers “closer”

Portuguese tanning industry representative body APIC is to host a high-level meeting with its counterpart in the footwear sector, APICCAPS, in Alcanena on July 13 as part of what industry figures have referred to as “a strategy to bring the tanning and footwear industries closer together”.

Recently elected APICCAPS president, Luis Onofre, and his immediate predecessor (and the Portuguese footwear manufacturing sector’s best known personality), Fortunato Federico, have both said they will attend.

The meeting will include a visit to the technical centre and laboratory run near Alcanena by research body CTIC, as well as formal presentations from APIC and CTIC.

Tanners will put on display samples of their finished leather collections for fashion season autumn-winter 2018-2019.
