Shoe production plummets in Pakistan

In the first nine months of the current financial year (July 2016 to March 2017) tanners in Pakistan increased production of finished leather leather by more than 4%.

Production reached 19.6 million square-metres over the first three quarters of this financial year, compared to 18.8 million square-metres in the corresponding period a year earlier.

However, shoe production fell by 26.8% during the same period to 33.2 million pairs from 45.4 million pairs a year earlier. Similarly, sole leather production also fell by 32.7% to 111 tonnes, compared to 165 tonnes a year earlier.
