Outdoor brand Timberland has appointed Tracy Smith as vice president and general manager of its North America division.

The company explained that he will be in charge of the “strategic vision” and operations of its wholesale and direct-to-consumer businesses in North America. This will include responsibility for strategy, merchandising, sales and marketing.

Mr Smith was most recently president of US operations for Italian footwear brand Geox, where he was in charge of the brand’s wholesale, retail and e-commerce businesses. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years at footwear and accessories brand Cole Haan, taking on a variety of roles including president of global sales, chief merchandising officer and vice president of footwear merchandising and design.

Timberland global brand president Jim Pisani said he was looking forward to tapping into Mr Smith’s “extensive expertise” in the premium footwear industry and predicted he would make an important contribution to driving the growth of the Timberland brand.
