Worthen Industries pays tribute to footwear machinery inventor

Footwear machinery provider Sampson Rib Group has paid tribute to Bob Sampson, the creator of the insole rib laying machines that bear his name. Mr Sampson died at the end of 2016; his career in the global footwear industry spanned more than 50 years.

The group, which is part of Worthen Industries, said Bob Sampson’s drive and passion for his products earned him respect across the whole of the shoe industry. It added that his insole rib laying machines are in use all over the world for the manufacture of Goodyear welt-constructed footwear and that “almost every major brand around the world” has invested in the technology.
