India’s footwear exports decline in value by 7%

Indian footwear manufacturers brought in export revenues of more than $2.7 billion in financial year 2015-2016. This figure represents a decline year on year of 7%.

Recent figures from India’s Council for Leather Exports puts the current total volume of footwear produced in India at more than 2 billion pairs, and the domestic retail market at 1.95 billion pairs.

Footwear accounts for 45% of all leather-sector exports.
