Nicaragua wants its footwear firms to turn to athletic shoes

19/01/2017
Around 70 footwear manufacturers in Nicaragua have been asked by industry association Camcunic to turn their hands to making athletic footwear.

So far the shoe manufacturing companies, most of them very small, have received training from Camcunic on athletic shoe construction, materials and market information, and a number of them have begun to make samples.

Speaking recently about the development, Camcunic president, Alejandro Delgado, said he believes this change can help Nicaraguan shoemakers to increase their sales by around 20% and allow the footwear sector in the Central American country to create as many as 10,000 new jobs.
