Baldinini breaks into US market

High-end Italian footwear brand Baldinini opened its first own-brand store in the US market at the end of September, choosing the Mall at Short Hills, near Newark airport in New Jersey, as the location.

The 100 square-metre store will be one of 150 high-end retail spaces in The Mall at Short Hills; it will stock Baldinini’s men’s and women’s collections, as well as the exclusive top-line shoes the brand sells under the name of the founder, Gimmi Baldinini.

Mr Baldinini said on announcing the development that this is the first of several stores he will set up in the US between now and the end of 2017, with Miami and New York other locations he is considering. He said the US market contributes 5% of his company’s turnover at the moment, but that he is aiming to increase this to 20%.
