Puma launches BMW-inspired shoe
Sportswear manufacturer Puma has unveiled a metallic silver shoe inspired by a vehicle from BMW. The BMW X-CAT DISC shoe takes its inspiration from the BMW GINA Light Visionary Concept Car and will be available to purchase online from July 1.

The concept car featured material on the exterior rather than metal and the Puma X-Cat features an upper made of a similar silver stretch fabric. The original fabric that was applied over the BMW chassis was developed by Puma in collaboration with Designworks, a BMW Group subsidiary who led the design process for the shoe.

The BMW X-Cat Disc uses Puma’s Disc technology, which consists of a dial that is rotated to tighten the shoes instead of conventional laces. An internal system of wires wraps and secures the upper for a comfortable fit. The laser-cutting across the front of the shoe resembles the “gill-like texture” that appears on the concept car when its doors are opened. It also features Puma’s iconic stripe on the outer in a reflective print. A BMW logo is printed on the Disc.
