Portugal’s main footwear industry body APICCAPS has said its member companies are on track to achieve substantial growth in the lucrative Japanese market this year.

In recent comments in Portuguese media, APICCAPS said shoe markers from Portugal had managed to grow their export revenues from Japan by 34% in 2015, albeit from a small base. The value of exports to Japan last year was €13 million.

For 2016, the organisation is predicting further growth of more than 50%, with revenues reaching €20 million.
