Main Group says new injection system solves outsole quality problems
08/06/2016
Main Group began putting the system into footwear factories 18 months ago, initially in an “experimental phase” and, for a year now, in full production, with Main’s research and development department working closely with technical teams at customer sites during the transition.
According to the Italian technology provider, this system can solve long-standing problems concerning outsole quality in direct injection production environments, with no bubbles or flaws in the outsole design pattern.
Nothing changes in machine configuration; instead, the Polyurethane Proportional Injection system consists of newly developed software and injection control. It is able to inject the same quantity of material in each dose and spread it evenly over the outsole surface, while keeping the material-colour ratio unchanged.
The group has said three more customers will begin using the system before the end of 2016; those on board already are in Europe, Asia and Central America and are using the technology to make casual shoes in 90% of cases and safety or industrial shoes in the other 10%. The technology provider has said it now intends to put the Polyurethane Proportional Injection system into all new polyurethane machines as standard.
