End of the road for famous Tuscan children’s shoe brand

Famous Tuscan children’s shoe manufacturer Balducci, which was launched in 1934, closed its doors, apparently for the last time, at the end of March.

Balducci had attempted to refinance its business more than once, but at the end of March the company said it had run out of options. Around 40 workers in Italy will be affected, but Balducci had also set up a manufacturing operation in Tunisia, which will now also cease production.

Some reports in Italy say the local authorities in the province of Pistoia and in the wider Tuscany region are hopeful of finding a buyer to keep Balducci going.
