Inditex wants Tempe distribution centre to double in size

06/04/2016
Inditex’s footwear division Tempe is preparing to turn its logistics centre in Elche into “the largest footwear logistics centre in the world”, according to reports from Spain.

Tempe’s role is to design and produce shoes for Zara and several of the group’s other fashion chains, but it has no shops of its own.

The company turned over a reported €1.1 billion in 2015 and now has a workforce of 1,700 people. It already runs a distribution centre covering more than 150,000 square-metres across three buildings at its Elche headquarters but has now said it intends to enter into discussion with the local authorities there to double this space.
