Iranian association joins UITIC

AH Rahmanian, who is one of the Assomes directors as well as being chief executive of Tehran-based Negahban Shoe Manufacturing Company, travelled to Chennai to represent Assomes at the congress. He told World Leather he was confident joining UITIC would benefit Assomes members.
“This will give us an opportunity to communicate with experts in other countries and to learn from them,” Mr Rahmanian said. “We want to learn from their knowledge and experience, and their use of new technology when it comes onto the market.”
He pointed out that Iran was, at one time, a major producer of footwear in the Middle East, but said the sector has contracted in recent years. He said he hoped UITIC membership would help the industry in Iran to grow again.
