Confirmation that China’s shoe exports are contracting

13/01/2016
New statistics from China’s customs authorities show a decline of just over 5% in the value of footwear exports in the first ten months of 2015.

Between January and October 2015, Chinese footwear exporters brought in $44.5 billion in export revenues. Year on year, this represents a fall of 5.1%. Figures for the volume of shoes exported are not yet available.

Although exports are contracting, senior figures in the industry in China have shared with World Footwear details of growth in footwear consumption in the domestic market there. We will release these numbers in the near future.
