Sharp decline in Pakistan’s leather footwear exports

All key indicators of the export performance of Pakistan’s leather industry, overseas sales of leather footwear, finished leather and leathergoods, registered sharp declines in the first five months of the current financial year, July-November 2015.

During the five-month period, leather footwear manufacturers brought into Pakistan export revenues of $39.5 million, while the figures for finished leather and leathergoods were $156.8 million and $222.3 million.

Compared to the same months in the previous financial year, these figures represent declines of 24.6%, 22.8% and 18% respectively.
