New shoe design centre for Jalisco

11/12/2015
Mexico’s second-biggest shoe-producing state, Jalisco, will open a new, dedicated footwear design centre next year. The new facility, which has involved an investment of more than $500,000, will be located in the city of Guadalajara.

President of the local footwear association, Salvador González, said manufacturers in Jalisco have an opportunity to claim a larger share of the domestic market than they have had in recent years owing to the high value of the US dollar. Exchange rates are making it difficult for Mexican shoe retailers to bring product in from other origins and they are looking to domestic manufacturers to fill the gap.

Having access to an up-to-date design centre to help local shoe manufacturers develop new styles and attract extra interest among Mexican buyers.
