Good and bad news for Argentina’s footwear industry

21/10/2015
Footwear consumption in Argentina increased by 4.9% in the first eight months of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014.

Between January and August 2014, Argentinean consumers bought 84.2 million pairs of shoes, boots and sandals, according to figures compiled by Buenos Aires-based consultancy, Investigaciones Económicas Sectoriales (IES).

However, this good news for the Argentinean footwear industry was tempered by additional statistics from IES that put the growth in footwear imports into Argentina over the eight months at 10.7%, with China, Brazil and Vietnam as the biggest sources of imported product.
