New tariffs for imported footwear in Bolivia

23/09/2015
Safety footwear, made either from leather or synthetic materials, is one of a limited number of product categories to become subject to new import tariff rates in Bolivia, following government approval of a new programme on September 16.

The shoes feature in the programme, along with potatoes, grapes, milk and other dairy products.

In the case of safety footwear, the import tariffs imposed by the government are between 30% and 40%. Bolivia’s government has said imports of cheaper products are harming domestic manufacturers’ ability to compete.
