Arturo Calle has almost 80 menswear stores throughout Colombia, as well as a presence in Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador, and plans to add more to its network. AC Leather, specialising in shoes, belts and other leather accessories, is a new idea that the company is currently rolling out across its stores, taking the form of in-store boutiques.
Founder, Arturo Calle, travelled to León in August for the Sapica exhibition and, following a series of meetings there with senior representatives of a number of prominent Mexican footwear brands, is reported to be preparing to stock shoes from Flexi, Ackerman, Quirelli, Paruno, Santini, Lugo Conti, Hamilton, Eva Green and other Mexican brands in his new AC Leather outlets.
Speaking to Mexican media after Sapica, Mr Calle said: “I have been surprised by the quality and the design of the Mexican shoes I saw. I must confess that I came to León 20 years ago in search of products and found nothing. Now it’s different; Mexican footwear has come a long way in terms of design and quality.”
