Peruvian minister launches footwear contest
17/07/2015
Mr Carrillo, who is the minister in charge of small and medium enterprises, launched the competition in El Porvenir, a district in the city of Trujillo in which many of Peru’s tanners and footwear manufacturers operate. He said he expects around 800 El Porvenir manufacturers to take part, a substantial increase from the 490 who signed up to compete in the competition last year.
Fifteen companies will go forward to represent the footwear sector at the much wider Perú Moda event in 2016. This is the third time that the footwear event, called ‘El Porvenir Produce’, has run.
At the launch, Mr Carrillo said: “The idea behind this is to increase competitiveness and productivity levels. We want to give El Porvenir manufacturers a shop-window that will allow them to expand their markets, domestically and internationally.”
