Taiwanese president visits Dominican Republic

Taiwan’s president, Ma Ying-jeou, paid an official visit to the Dominican Republic on July 13.

Mr Ma arrived at Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo and held talks with his counterpart, President Danilo Medina.

More than 70 Taiwanese companies are manufacturing goods in the Dominican Republic now, including footwear manufacturers. By the end of 2014, Taiwan’s total investment in the Caribbean country was calculated at $145.2 billion.
