Why an early start in Japan suits Spanish shoe brands

A total of 32 Spanish footwear companies will fly to Japan to take part in a special Shoes From Spain exhibition. The event will run in Tokyo from July 15 to 17. The companies taking part will show off their collections for spring-summer 2016.

Footwear industry federation FICE said this will be the twenty-fourth Shoes From Spain exhibition in Japan. It said Spanish brands find the exercise helpful because it allows them to give buyers in the lucrative Japanese market early sight of their latest collections and initiate discussions about the shoes that they are later able to convert into orders when Japanese footwear industry professionals visit the major European shows in the coming months.

In 2014, Spanish brands exported 2.4 million pairs of shoes to Japan, bringing in revenues of €48 million.
