London emerges as the epicentre of online fashion start-ups

Quoting figures from Crunchbase, an online analyst firm that gathers data on start-up investments, the Financial Times said recently that London is home to 60 online fashion companies that have started up in the last five years. And it quoted commentators who believe London-based online companies have generated more value for the footwear and fashion industries than companies in the whole of the US.
Research company Euromonitor told the FT that the web-based footwear and fashion market in the UK generated sales of £9 billion in 2014 and that this figure will rise to £16.7 billion by the end of the decade.
