Bata celebrates 75 years in Bolivia

Industrialists led by a senior company representative named Zvonko Macuorek had travelled from Bata’s base in the Czech Republic to get the Bolivian venture up and running.
After only a year, this production operation, which became Manaco, moved to a special industrial zone in Quillacollo, where it continues to operate today, still under the Manaco name. In time, Manaco came to export shoes to Peru, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.
“The Manaco factory came to have great importance in the history of Bolivia because of the quality of the shoes we have produced there, the jobs we have created and the support we have been able to give to Bolivia’s development,” said Bata’s current chief executive in Bolivia, Mónica Mier, in a statement for the anniversary. “This will continue as we remain committed to improving the quality of the products we bring to market in Bolivia and beyond, and because we maintain our philosophy of giving our employees the best possible working conditions and of taking an active part in our local community.”
