BASF intermediate price increase could affect footwear supply chain

Chemicals manufacturer BASF has announced that it is increasing the price of its polyalcohol neopentylglycol (NPG), an intermediate used to produce polyester resins for coatings, unsaturated polyester resins, lubricants and plasticisers.
BASF said it was increasing its prices for NPG with immediate effect or “as existing contracts permit” by €80 per tonne.
