Genuine Turkish Leather label to come under stricter control

29/04/2015
Associations representing Turkish tanners, leathergoods, footwear and leather garments manufacturers have jointed forces to enforce new standards for the Genuine Turkish Leather label.

From the start of May, under a new labelling system, any company bringing to market leather or finished products using the Genuine Turkish Leather label risks a fine of up to $250,000 if their product is found not to meet high standards for quality and for environmental practice.

A new expert team will check products using the label and will have the authority to reject products and impose penalties.
