PU colour innovations in focus at Maastricht event

16/03/2015
Announcements on new technologies for bringing colour innovation to polyurethanes will be one of the areas of focus at the UTECH Europe conference and exhibition, which takes place in Maastricht, the Netherlands, from April 14-16, 2015.

In a conference session on flexible foams on April 15, Sven De Vis, technical service and development engineer at Milliken Europe will present a paper entitled ‘Preventing degradation and discolouration in polyurethanes using polymer-bound stabilisers and colourants’. The paper will cover the fact that preserving the long-term quality of polyurethane articles is an ongoing challenge for PU producers and polyol manufacturers because, for the end-user, visual appearance is a significant factor in the perceived value of a product.

In the conference’s science session on April 16, Fiona Qureshi, project leader for technical service thermosets at Chromaflo Technologies, will present a paper on ‘The Art and Science of Colour and Appearance’. As well as examining the role of colour in consumer perceptions, she will look at the controllable factors in successful end-product colouring.
