Bitter-sweet celebration for Molina & Bianchi

02/03/2015
Footwear machinery manufacturer Molina & Bianchi is celebrating 60 years in business in 2015 and invited customers and partners to join it for a celebratory reception at the recent Simac exhibition in Milan.

However, because one of the company’s founders, Giuseppe Molina, died at the end of 2014, the celebrations had a bitter-sweet touch too. A table-tennis champion in his youth, Mr Molina founded the company with his business partner Carlo Bianchi and went on to play a prominent role in the industrial development of the footwear industry in Italy and around the world.

Michela Poletti, a granddaughter of Mr Molina’s who is now involved in the running of the company, told footwearbiz at Simac that it was inevitable that the anniversary celebrations would be tinged with sadness, but said they would also serve as a celebration of her grandfather’s memory.

She explained that one of several new machines that Molina & Bianchi had on display at Simac, the Sincron 3 over-lasting machine, had been rebranded to include the letters GMT in its name, with these initials standing for ‘Giuseppe Molina Tribute’.

The other new machines on show were the CD 15 GM sole cementing machine and the 3 Ideal lasting machine.
