New life for Denizli’s sole leather tanners

28/01/2015
The city of Denizli in south-west Turkey has successfully relocated 12 sole leather tanneries still operating in the area to a new industrial zone 30 kilometres from the centre of the town.

Denizli has been associated with sole leather production for more than 100 years and, with an annual production capacity of 2,500 tonnes per year, its tanners are responsible for more than 70% of Turkey’s entire sole leather output now.

Facilities in the new industrial zone include new buildings, machinery, equipment and an up-to-date wastewater treatment plant.
