Brazilian footwear firms keen on Colombia

16/01/2015
Brazilian footwear industry association Abicalçados has said 14 of its member companies will travel with it to Bogotá next month for Colombia’s International Footwear and Leather Show (ILFS).

Manufacturers attending ILFS, which runs from February 3-6, will include Grendene, Beira Rio, Ramarim, Dakota, Pampili and Pegada.

Colombia is one of seven export countries, along with the US, Mexico, Germany, Russia, the UAE and China, that Abicalçados wants Brazilian manufacturers to pay special attention to in 2015, alongside the domestic market.

In the first nine months of 2014, Brazilian producers shipped 7.4 million of the 37.9 million pairs of shoes and boots that Colombia imported over the period, a share of 19.5%. Grendene has said it is confident of increasing its own share and Beira Rio said it hoped to double its business in Colombia this year.
