Analysis by consultancy IES suggests that per capita consumption of footwear fell by almost 7% in Argentina in 2014. Figures for the first 11 months of last year put total footwear sales at 121.1 million pairs in Argentina, an average per person of 3.2 pairs, 6.9% down on the corresponding figure for 2013.

In the 2014 period, however, there was positive news for Argentinean footwear manufacturers in that the share of the local market that domestic shoemakers commanded remained steady at more than 85%.
