Big boost for Bangladesh leather shoe exports

Official figures from Bangladesh show that the country’s leather and footwear industry increased the value of its exports in the first four months of the current financial year (July-October 2014) by 6.1% compared to the same period last year, although exports of finished leather fell year on year.

Over the four month period this year, Bangladeshi producers of leather footwear made a particularly strong contribution to overall export revenues for the sector of $383.6 million.

Exports of leather footwear were up in value by 20.3% at $169.5 million.
