Volumes down but export values up for Pakistan’s footwear

Pakistan’s leather industry export revenues for the first four months of the current financial year (July-September 2014) were down by 3.1% compared to the same period in 2013, falling from $429.6 million to $416 million.

Footwear firms exported 4.1 million pairs of shoes and boots with leather uppers over the same period, achieving export revenues of $43.5 million. This represents a decline of 14.6% in volume compared to the figure for the same months in 2013, but an increase in value of 19.2%.

Producers of leather footwear have been able to increase the value of their exports from $7.60 per pair this time last year to $10.60 per pair.
