Nearly 5,000 companies in Guanajuato leather value chain

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2014 World Footwear Congress in León on November 24, Mr Márquez said 60% of all of Mexico’s footwear exports were from Guanajuato and that the state’s 200 biggest shoe exporters had customers in 40 countries around the world.
From January to September 2014, he said these exporting companies had shipped 12 million pairs of shoes and boots overseas, earning revenues of $315 million.
