Reports from China say a major fire has caused severe damage to a footwear components manufacturer in Rui’an in Zhejiang province.

It took firefighters 12 hours to bring the blaze under control. There are no reports of injuries and the factory, owned by a company called Zhejiang Global was in an industrial zone, so residential areas were not affected.

However, estimates immediately after the incident suggested that more than half of the installation had been destroyed and that Global had also lost machinery, raw materials, finished components and semi-manufactured shoes.
