Bangladesh increases the value of its leather shoe exports

Bangladesh’s leather industry exports for the first two months of the current financial year, July and August 2014, increased in value by 18.1% to reach $202.2 million from $171.2 million in July and August 2013. The figures are form the country’s Export Promotion Bureau.
 
Although exports of finished leather declined in value by 8.4% compared to the same two months in 2013, falling to just over $66 million, the value of shipments of leather footwear increased in value by more than 30% to reach $95.5 million while those of finished leathergoods increased by 49% to more than $40 million.
