Shoe factories hit by flooding in northern Spain

16/07/2014
More than 25 footwear factories in Aragón in northern Spain have been badly affected by flooding in the region following unusually heavy rain at the start of July.

Almost two weeks after the storms, a number of footwear producers, mostly in and around the town of Brea, in the province of Zaragoza, said they had still not been able to restart production.

The authorities have said emergency loans will be provided to companies that need it, with the footwear manufacturers paying the money back when insurance payments come through.
