Pou Chen to build new factory in Myanmar

Media in Myanmar have quoted Pou Chen Group chief executive, Patty Tsai, as saying her company is preparing to build a new footwear factory in Myanmar, with production scheduled to begin by the end of 2015.

The factory will have the capacity to produce more than 9 million pairs of shoes per year by 2019 and will involve an investment of around $100 million, reports said. It will be located in former capital city, Yangon.

On July 10, Pou Chen confirmed to footwearbiz that “based on current planning” these figures are accurate.
