Parent company of global fashion group Zara, Inditex, is now Spain’s biggest footwear producer.

Shoe producing division, Tempe, how employs more than 1,500 people at its base in Elche and, in 2012, produced 52 million pairs of shoes, with a value of €834.7 million, a 12% increase on the figure for the previous year.

Spanish business media outlet Economía Digital said on June 17 that this makes Tempe the biggest company in the country’s footwear industry.
