US snow halts Mexican footwear exports in their tracks

Over the same period, the organisation said, the levels of imports of shoes made in China into all parts of Mexico grew by 91%.
Between January and April, Mexican shoe manufacturers shipped more than 7.6 million pairs of shoes overseas, bringing in export revenues of close to $115 million.
Footwear industry sources in Guanjuato have said they were affected this year by late snow in their main export market, the US. Bad weather caused the cancellation of many rodeo events, at which and for which large volumes of Mexican-made leather cowboy boots are often sold.
