Trademark to protect integrity of Nepalese footwear

The Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers’ Association of Nepal (LGFMAN) has launched a trademark for its footwear manufacturers, according to local reports.

The association said it would issue the trademark after testing the quality of their products, and has produced a TV commercial to inform the public.

“We have been frequently receiving complaints that some manufacturers are selling imported products as their own by labelling them with Nepali brands,” LGFMAN president Homnath Upadhyay told reporters. “This collective trademark will help maintain the quality of Nepali footwear as manufacturers will have to abide by the code of conduct set by the association.”
