Call for unity in Ecuador’s footwear industry

04/06/2014
Ecuador’s government has given priority status to 14 different sectors within the footwear and leather value chain, all of which will be represented at the 2014 FICCE exhibition in Quito from July 3-5.

The 14 different areas of interest are tanneries, hides and skins, training, machinery, metalwork, lasts, heels, soles, components, accessories, textiles, synthetic materials, chemicals and service organisations.

President of the Guayaquil Footwear Manufacturers’ Association, Gonzalo Toro, said in the build-up to the event that FICCE could help unite representatives of all of these sectors to the overall benefit of the industry.

Last year, Ecuadorean producers made 32 million pairs of shoes.
