Taiwanese footwear manufacturer Hong Fu is to open three factories in the Dominican Republic with a joint production capacity of a million shoes per month.

Its chairman, Chang Tsung-yuan, said he expects the factories to ready in three months and for around 11,000 to be employed when they are at full capacity.
