Bangladesh footwear industry exports on the rise

Bangladesh’s footwear industry has reported growth in export values of 31.9% for the first eight months of the current financial year, July 2013 to February 2014, according to data released by the country’s Export Promotion Bureau.

Bangladesh exported footwear, leather and leathergoods worth $847.7 million over the eight-month period, compared to $608.5 million over the same period in the previous financial year.

Exports of leather footwear contributed $376.7 million to the total.
