Strong growth for Ecco in 2013

13/03/2014
Danish footwear group Ecco has reported increases in revenues and profits for 2013 compared to the previous year. The positive results have come amid substantial investment in tanneries and other production facilities.

Vertically integrated Ecco runs its own leather division, which has tanneries in the Netherlands, Indonesia, Thailand and China. It also runs its own footwear factories.

In 2013, the company invested in a complete refit of its tannery in Indonesia, built a new facility for producing “luxury leathers” in the Netherlands and built a new wastewater treatment plant and biogas unit at its wet end tannery there.

In spite of this level of investment, Ecco recorded revenues of €1.31 billion for the year, an increase of 4.4% on 2012. Profits before tax from this totalled €165.4 million, up by more than 8% on the figure for 2012. The company said its “controlled growth strategy” would continue in 2014.
