Positive result for Pakistan’s footwear industry in first six months

Results from the Pakistani leather industry for the first half of the current financial year (July 2013 to January 2014) show export earnings up by 11.9% to reach $729.8 million.

A breakdown of the figure shows that exports of leather footwear brought $62.3 million into the country over the six-month period, 
an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period a year ago.

Over the same period, exports of finished leather brought in $288.8 million and shipments of leathergoods earned $378.7 million, growth of 14.3% and 11.7% respectively.
