New idea could have big impact on Expo Riva Schuh India

India’s Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has announced that exhibitions in New Delhi and Kolkata will rebrand themselves using the successful India International Leather Fair (IILF) name, which until now has been the preserve of the finished leather, leather chemicals and tanning machinery event that takes place each year in Chennai in late January or early February.

The New Delhi event will be called IILF Delhi and will have a specific focus on footwear. It will, potentially, have a major impact on the Expo Riva Schuh India event, which launched in the capital in 2011. Expo Riva Schuh has signed a memorandum of understanding to have IILF Delhi co-located with its event, ITPO general manager, Dalel Singh said. “IILF Delhi will be for Indian footwear manufacturers who are looking to source components and finished leather,” he added.

Mr Singh, said the focus for IILF Kolkata, which will take place at the end of March, will be finished leathergoods. Companies in the area around Kolkata currently produce around 67% of India’s total finished leathergoods output. This show has run until now as the Kolkata International Leathergoods Fair, but will rebrand as IILF Kolkata in 2015.
