“This is the reason why Spanish shoes are now on sale in more than 150 countries around the world,” he said in a recent interview with specialist media in Spain. “And to get to where we are today, our manufacturers have had to understand that their main competition was not from rival companies in south-east Asia, but those in other parts of Europe, especially Italy.”
Mr Sanchís said a focus on innovation across the whole of the footwear supply chain and “magnificent, leading-edge design” had led to Spain’s footwear sector offering the best value for money in the entire global industry.
