Argentina: footwear industry has grown 300% in the last decade

Argentina’s industry minister, Débora Giorgi, was a guest of honour at the final day of the most recent Efica footwear exhibition, which took place in Buenos Aires from February 2-4.

Ms Giorgi said the high-quality shoes the country’s footwear sector produces are “becoming more and more competitive”. She added that in the last ten years, the sector has grown by 300%, generating 35,000 jobs. She claimed 80% of the domestic footwear market was satisfied by Argentine-made shoes.

More than 120 footwear brands took part in this, the ninetieth edition of Efica. They had on display footwear for the southern hemisphere’s autumn-winter 2014 season.
