Taiwanese company An Shen is to invest in a $40 million leather shoe factory in Vietnam, which, on completion in 2016, is expected to employ 9,000 workers, according to local reports.

The production facility is a joint venture between Vietnam’s Tien Hung Company and An Shen and could employ 3,000 workers for the build during 2014.

Built over seven acres in Dong Thap Province's Tran Quoc Toan Industrial Zone, it is forecast to produce 9 million pairs of leather shoes per year.
